Career mode is a longform session where players are given a base theme/groundwork, and are tasked with creating the best theme park they can. Planet Coaster has three core modes: Career, Sandbox, and Challenge. It doesn’t ruin the experience, but can make getting around feel like a chore. This issue is present in Planet Coaster: Console Edition, as navigating through menus and building tracks with a gamepad is just inferior to a keyboard and mouse. On PC, it’s easy to make snap adjustments and to flip through categories with a mouse and keyboard, this is simply not a luxury enjoyed by those playing on console.

One of the struggles that’s nearly impossible to overcome with these management simulators is the shift in controls. As it can be a bit of a task to get acquainted with the systems in a deep sim like Planet Coaster, I appreciated the revamped tutorial.

Planet Coaster: Console Edition adds an in-depth voice tutorial that walks players through the basic steps. Because of this, the tutorial is pretty important as it shows players the ropes of maneuvering the pretty extensive UI. Planet Coaster features an assortment of rides and tools that players can use to build their own unique theme park. Along with giving more players access to the acclaimed experience from PC, Planet Coaster: Console Edition offers new features and improvements. With the arrival of gaming’s next generation, Frontier is bringing Planet Coaster to Xbox and PlayStation. From Frontier Developments, this sim brought us back to the glory days of theme-park builders. I enjoyed the experience, it was a nice ride for sure.Planet Coaster first released back in 2016 to positive responses. I believe this could be fixed either by merging the assets by linking them, but apparently even after a structure has been build the assets will still be considered independent even if grouped up. During my first parks to which I dedicated hours of decoration, I was using so many assets with the Create tool that my park started flickering because it couldn't handle all the assets at the same time. Overall everything worked well on PS5, but I did notice some dips when my park was getting significantly big, and after I finished my parks there were so many assets on screen that the frame rate dropped to what I would recognize as mid 30's returning to 50's when zoomed in. I believe Planet Coaster could benefit from an easy difficulty for kids since the theme is overall childish, but ends up not being so compelling towards kids outside of the create mode environment. I did not find the game very friendly towards players unfamiliar with tycoons and it's not the lack of tutorial content, but the game itself demanding some management skills after certain status is achieved. Unfortunately I believe Planet Coaster players will probably be a small niche of tycoon enthusiasts.
